There really aren't the words to describe how brilliant Crimson kilts are. From the moment you decide that you want Lesley to make your kilt it is crafting of the highest calibre. There is a genuine love of fabric, kilts, craft and making that oozes through every step of the kilt making process and as my kilt was being made I really felt this.
Lesley guided me through having my kilt made step by step and answered all of my (silly) questions and showed patience, dedication and skill at every stage - for which I was very grateful. And it is true to say that I am rarely brought to tears but when I laid eyes on the finished kilt, my kilt, I came as close to tears as I ever do. Lesley Thornton is a genius kiltsmith.  She successfully dismantled a kilt (made for my dad over 70 years ago and adjusted several times) then cleaned and remade it for me.  Made to measure, it is a perfect fit and has received comments about how well it sits and looks.  Lesley managed to retain the original buckles but replaced the straps with a contemporary look.

The journey to Tillicoultry was definitely worth the effort for the personal service and expertise and Lesley’s enthusiasm.  It was really good to be able to talk to the person actually making the kilt and willing to listen to my preferences.  Highly recommended.
